ACKSONVILLE, FL -- A convicted killer who pleaded guilty on Wednesday to a second murder and a sex assault in jail will die in prison.

Judge John Merrett sentenced Jonathan Tave to 1050 years in prison.

"Mr. Tave you were born a human being. You chose to live like a beast, and now you're going to die like a beast in a cage," Merrett said.

Earlier this week, a jury convicted Tave of first-degree murder in the killing of Cedrick Henry in 2005.

While he was behind bars, investigators received DNA evidence linking Tave to the 2004 murder of Willie Tomblin.

In April, police say Tave, armed with a homemade shank, sexually attacked and beat a corrections officer at the Duval County jail.

After the guilty pleas in the attack and the murder of Tomblin, the judge sentenced Tave to three consecutive life sentences, and more than a thousand years in prison.

Tave made a statement to the court saying, "My grandfather always told me a simple man watches and prepares for his family. A symbol man never watches and suffers the consequences."

Merrett says Tave pleaded guilty because he didn't like the conditions at the Duval County jail. Tave is being taken to a facility in Lake Butler.
