I am starting a new fish tank that is slightly bigger and the stand is custom made by me and a lot taller.

here are the 2x4's. I used 6 10ft 2x4's and a box of 2" woodscrews.
I did all this with a cordless ryobi screw gun and circular saw on the back of my truck.

Some progress pics...

and the new tank on the frame next to the old tank. The new stand is 37"tall.

Now I just need to figure out what style of skin I am going to put on the stand and what kind of doors etc.

Good job.

How much did you save building it yourself?

Looks good! One day I will once again have a salt water tank. Do you plan to add anything else to the tank?

A lot of money! Stands and canopies for fish tanks can cost around $800-$1000 for my tank and I paid aout $250 for materials. I also drilled the glass in my tank in order to plumb it for the filter system etc. My entire tank system including coral and equipment is probably worth $2000. Its a VERY expensive hobby.

Just more corals. Im pretty much maxed out on fish for now. I have lots of small corals (frags as we call them) that need to grow out. Once they grow it will look reall nice.
